Terms of Use

By creating an account on UniSpouse you agree to these terms. Please read them carefully.

What UniSpouse is

UniSpouse is a non-commercial introduction platform for UK Muslim university students and recent alumni (within 2 years of graduation). Its sole purpose is to help eligible Muslims find a marriage partner in a sharia-conscious way. It is not a dating app. There is no in-app messaging by design. When two members express mutual interest, contact details are revealed so the conversation can move off-platform immediately into a wali-mediated process.

Eligibility

You must meet all of the following to use UniSpouse:

  • · You are a Muslim.
  • · You are 18 or over.
  • · You are currently enrolled at a UK university, or graduated from one within the last 2 years.
  • · You are based in the UK.
  • · You are seeking marriage, not casual relationships.

Creating an account while ineligible is a breach of these terms and your account will be removed.

Identity verification

You must register with a valid UK university email address (ending in .ac.uk) and confirm it via the link we email you. This confirms you are a genuine UK student. By registering you confirm the email account belongs to you. We do not ask for, or store, passports, driving licences, or student ID cards. Using an email account that is not yours, or otherwise misrepresenting your eligibility, is a serious breach of these terms.

Acceptable conduct

You agree not to:

  • · Submit false, misleading, or fraudulent information in your profile.
  • · Use the platform for any purpose other than seeking a marriage partner.
  • · Harass, abuse, or intimidate other members.
  • · Upload photos of anyone other than yourself.
  • · Attempt to circumvent the verification or payment system.
  • · Share another member's contact details beyond their intended use.

Profile photos (sisters)

Sisters' profile photos must meet the modesty standard: jilbab-level covering, hair fully covered, face visible, no niqab. This is checked automatically and, in borderline cases, manually by the founder. Photos that do not meet this standard will be rejected with a reason.

Payment and refunds

Activating your profile costs £0.99, charged via Stripe for a 3-month window. By default your profile is deleted at the end of that window - renew within the last 7 days to keep it. You can enable auto-renew in Settings if you prefer to be charged automatically each cycle.

No refunds. The £0.99 fee is non-refundable. It exists solely to deter misuse - UniSpouse is non-commercial and the fee does not cover a commercial service.

Moderation

Any member can report a profile. Reports are reviewed by the founder. If a report is upheld, the reported member receives a warning and 7 days to address the issue. Accounts are removed if the issue is not resolved. There are no permanent bans - the £0.99 signup friction is considered sufficient deterrent for repeat misuse.

Limitation of liability

UniSpouse provides an introduction service only. We do not vet members beyond the identity verification described above and take no responsibility for interactions between members that occur off-platform. Always exercise your own judgement. We strongly encourage involving a wali from the very first contact.

UniSpouse is provided as-is with no guarantees of availability or outcome. The founder is not liable for any loss or harm arising from use of the platform.

Account deletion

You can delete your account at any time from Settings. Deletion is immediate and permanent - all your data, photos, and matches are purged. This cannot be undone.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
